Tecumseh has been closing plants all over the U.S. the last few years... They have a factory in Brazil but I am not sure they are doing small engines there as they are now just part of an even bigger company. Do a goggle search for tecumseh closing and you will see all the plants they have closed. I have been playing with them about 40 years and always liked the tecumseh's with there more adjustable carbs etc. Here is a blurb from early October...

DUNLAP (AP) -- A Tecumseh engine plant at Dunlap with about 180 employees will shut down by next spring.

Executives tell the Chattanooga Times Free Press the plant about 20 miles north of Chattanooga will completely close in April.

Plant operations director Kevin Brady told the newspaper the shutdown is due to declining customer volume. He said affected employees have been notified.

The Dunlap plant makes small engines for companies such as MTD, Toro and Lawn-Boy, and other lines that make engines for snow blowers and electric generators.

In 2006, the plant at Dunlap added 200 jobs and started a second shift when Tecumseh's Corinth, Miss., plant was closed.

About a year ago, Tecumseh Products engine and power train business, including the plant in Dunlap, was sold to affiliates of Platinum Equity
