While it may have looked "cool" the original kick-stand was useless if on any other surface than a paved road.
I made a new one with a weight distributing foot forged into it out of 3/4" black iron gas pipe. The pivot end had to be turned down 10 thou to fit but it works well and keeps the bike in an upright position on soft soil even with the engine running.
