Vt-8 front tire for improved handling

#1
Running what I think is the original turf saver carlisle 18x8.5x8 on my heald vt-8. Lots of surface area on ground, but doesn't handle well. Thinking a tire less riding mower and more motorcycle like might help.

This has been discussed here before...just would like to hear what all you guys are running.

har_v1 post some pictures when you get a knobby tire on the bike. I got a vt-8 with a tuff tire on it and also would like to change it over someday with a knobby style tire. tuff tire is just terrible when it comes to turning it in corners.

Finally got back to this project...
Mocking up a 20x7-8 that i borrowed from a trailsport. Like the look..and think it should work..want to make sure the suspension travel won't be a problem with the taller tire. Measures 15in from triple tree to axle.
What ya think? 20190630_154451.jpg 20190630_155031.jpg

Since it is based on front spring tension...could i get the measurement from vt8 / 10 owners??..top of lower triple tree to front axle? In mock up w trailsport wheel i cant put springs in correctly so not sure what travel will be. Thx.

What's the easiest way to get this apart for paint?
Where can I get new correct size bearings of decent quality?

Thanks.
