Wanting to buy a 16hp Engine

Hey, I am thinking about buying a 16hp Engine for my Kart. I have 300 dollars to spend and trying to find a good powerful Engine that will be able to bring me threw the woods and still have good speed.. I am thinking about buying the DuroMax Engine but not sure.

Any ideas on what engine to get?

that duromax 16hp engine looks about the best your going to get as far as price! get the onw with electric start its much butter! :thumbsup:

Yeah i was going to get that one with the Electric start. I am wondering is this Engine going to really give me a lot of power and speed though..

not unless you remove the govenor and twist a little more rpm not too much though i wouldnt twist more than 5500

if u want to mod the engine a little and really make it wake up get a gx390 air filter adapter and exhaust u will need to rejet the carb

With the perpetual 20% off coupon from Harbor Freight you can get the 16hp 420 Predator with electric start for about $280 I think. And a no questions asked 2 year warranty for another $20.

also get heavy duty valve springs off of nr-racing.com go to performance parts on chinese 13hp and it will take u to were u need to be

Is the 420 Pederator motor is that only a 13hp though.. I am planning on putting a muffler and air filter on the 16hp Duramax but was wondering would i get good power and speed from it.. Also i am going to remove the governor

These are 100% Lifans. The majority of the parts inside this engine is what Honda uses in their OEM engines. There's a lot of opinions on the clones but I kinda think these are the ones to get, again another opinion:shrug:. you will be limiting your aftermarket parts selection with a HF engine,so it will cost more to up grade later.

Electric start is not something I want because the light race flywheels are smaller and no ring gears. besides if you up the compression the factory starter is to weak to turn it over anyway. either remote or pull is the way to go after milling.

A 420cc is a 420cc,13/14/15/16 HP is just an advertizing numbers game...

Member these are 1 inch shaft though so you need a different clutch than a 6.5 clone

The 420 Predator is 16hp. HF carries a 340cc version that is 13hp and not electric start.

Wow that's better than a true Honda,they are only 11 hp. It takes Honda 390cc to make that.

I just bought the HF engine from my Local HF store and used the 20% coupon on the 420cc it came out to be 297.99 witch was not bad. So now i am trying to find a clutch big enough to fit it because i see the shaft is way bigger then the 6.5hp HF clone..

Whats a good clutch to get for it?
