Update on my 3.5 Briggs build

Hey guys, been awhile since I have posted. I have been very busy with my 3.5 build! So this was the complete block that came with my mini bike. Upon first look, I figured it was junk. The owner assured me that it had maybe 30 minutes total run time. I took the thing apart and he was not kidding...

Made custom number plates for my Cat Project!

Just a update, I finally have them mounted how I want. They are super solid too! Made a strut to go in between them. Also used 3 mounts on either side and had to glue them in place. If you ever need a great glue, look up Zap A Gap. The stuff is amazing! I also used it to glue the rails down in...

Oh I will likely come up with a Stars N Stripes shirt to wear with it! Thanks for the compliment!

Made custom number plates for my Cat Project!

Hey guys, Just wanted to share a update on the Cat. Finally found some vinyl checker board sticker sheets to add some highlights to the seat. Also ordered some number plates and cut them down to a size I wanted. Pretty happy with how things came out! This is what I was picturing in my head...

    Stoked! Refurbished Clutches!

No worries at all man. It is a forum, I expect people to reply and post pics. You never need to apologize to me for that.

    Stoked! Refurbished Clutches!

I guess I made things WAY too easy on myself. I laid the shoes in place and used masking tape around the contact edge. Then installed the stock spring. Everything went together super easy. Installed inner plate, replaced clip, removed tape, done.

Scored a Briggs for my Cat project.

So when I bought my Cat mini bike recently, it came with a 3hp B&S that looked like hell. It was missing the carb, air cleaner, gas tank and side cover. Talked with the previous owner a bit more and he told me that motor maybe had 30 minutes on it tops. Took it apart to inspect and he was right...

Need some info on vintage Briggs motors.

Hey guys, I need your help. You may have recently seen the Cat roller I recently bought. I would like to find a period correct Briggs motor for it. Pretty sure these originally came with a 3hp? I was told to go with the 5hp because there are more parts available for them and the 3hp will...

    Stoked! Refurbished Clutches!

I know all of you have probably done this a bunch of times but this was a first for me. I have purchased 2 mini bike projects in the last few months. One Nova and recently a Cat. Both of them had Max Torque clutches on them. One looked "decent" and the latest one looked like it was on the...

New Cat project! Any info is welcome!

Hey guys, I picked up another mini bike project this weekend. I know is is a Cat brand, i am told it is a Muskin? Don't really know. Anyway, on to the details.... Previous owner powder coated the frame/forks/wheels/sprocket, installed new tires/tubes/bearings, and had a custom seat made for...

Cat with a sloppy fit steering head

Trust me, i don't EVER need to save beers cans! There is always a endless supply of them at my house! Hahahaha!

Cat with a sloppy fit steering head

That isn't a bad idea either! The beer can was a tall boy so I got it to fit nice and snug. I went back and wrapped the bolt with a couple pieces of copper tape. Now it is SUPER solid! I greased it up really good too so I highly doubt this will be a issue ever again.

Cat with a sloppy fit steering head

I actually fixed my problem! I cut up a beer can and shimmed it with that! Works great! There is still a little play but not nearly as much! Who says beer can't fix everything?????

Cat with a sloppy fit steering head

Hey guys, I just picked up a Cat rolling chassis. The thing is in really nice condition also! The steering neck has a bit of a sloppy fit between it and the bolt. Is this normal on these? Is there anyway to shim it? All advice is welcome! Thank you. Ryan

    Need advice on Clutch Brakes

Awesome reply! Thank you! I highly doubt this minibike will see much if any at all dirt use. Want to build it as a show/cruiser. I plan on spending some decent money on paint as well. The stock rear sprocket is a #40 so the chain will be reasonably beefy. Chances are high that I will be...

    Need advice on Clutch Brakes

Loving all the input, thanks guys. I will not be adding a jack shaft to the bike simply due to cost. Trying to work with what I have as I have already blown the budget out of the water lol. Starting to think I may just keep the scrub brake and eventually add a clutch brake since that is a bolt...

    Need advice on Clutch Brakes

Appreciate the replies guys! The only two choices for brakes on my bike is the scrub brake that I already have and the clutch brake. Mine isn't set up for a rear drum and it doesn't have a jack shaft on it.

    Need advice on Clutch Brakes

Hey guys, I need some advice here. I want to know how good a band brake on the clutch works. I am considering cutting off the foot/scrub brake and only using a clutch brake. How well do these work? Is this a bad idea? By cutting off the foot brake this will allow me to lengthen the frame a...

New member in Oceanside CA, anyone close to me?

Hey Eric! You already have an idea of what I would like to do with my bike. After looking at the frame a bit more, I just don't know if I want to put the money into paint on that particular frame. On top of it being in rough shape, I think the wheelbase is going to be a little short for the...
