460cc Drag Bike

#1
Time to upgrade the 212cc motor in the bike. Went with Vegas carts bare bones 460cc kit, minidragbike Charles is doing the head (big valve welded chamber)and specing out a .400 lift cam, gage roller rockers, mikuni 42mm carb for now, raceeng flywheel, bully 1" turbo 4 disk, 92mm forged flat top piston, arc billet rod and making my own stepped exhaust pipe. Assembling soon.

The bike

Here's the little 212cc

And the parts of the 460cc

The 42mm (before I cleaned it up) vs the 28mm on the 212cc

Holy crap, Joe!
Wow that thing is a beast! How big is the bore on that sucker?
And 4-disc clutch, you're really stepping out on this one lol.
I thought I had a shot at running near the top of the field in the fall, now I'm not so sure with this behemoth.
How much HP are you shooting for?

EDIT: Does that motor use a balance shaft of some sort? I notice there are more bearings than usual lol

NVRMND I checked out it it's about 3 5/8" bore, almost 2 3/4" stroke.
Are you going to put an electric starter on it?

Thx. Massacre I'm not putting a starter on it because of weight. As is it weighs more then the 212cc motor but thinking of buying a jr drag hand held starter since this motor will have no compression release. Should make close to 50hp

Well I can't compete with 50 hp that's for sure. I'm blowing the tire off with less than half that. Are you going to be able to even hook up with that much power?

I thought I read that some of those motors use a balance shaft to be able to turn high RPMs.

We'll see what happens lol with the 212 if you hear the tire it dead hooks so we'll see. I see some guys with out a balance shaft. I would think it would've came with the kit if it needed it but I'm going to research it maybe I can balance the rotating assembly to get away from it.

That is kind of counter-intuitive, you would think the shaft would be needed at high RPM not low. I'm sure it's a torque monster too.
Geez Joe you might have to bulk up to get this rear tire to plant with all this power lol

Plus with no Helgers anymore there won't be any track prep so it might change things a little.
I really hope they can make it next time, the last race wasn't the same without them.

I'll put a weight on the back if I have to lol. Thinking if someone with a car does a burn out at each line that'll be good for everyone. And on the shaft it's weird but running it with out. Also helgar bros I think are not returning for further events from what it seems like.

Trink junk mans motor not maxed out. He's got a 440cc stock head and small cam with a pipe. He's also a big guy too. This was me vs him when I was running out of gear at the top.

i know you are overkilling it joe just saying the right small block can be more than competetive with a much larger motor in a hundred feet !! i could not find the pic but that 440 almost put him on his ass the first time he cracked the throttle that day  had to be a foot and a half off the ground
