.650 stock carb, gx390 carb, mikuni?

#21
OK got a pz20 with the an air filter for $16. My 196 motor has a flat top piston, 22 lb springs, 3/4" header and screw on brigs muffler. Will put my billet rod and aluminum flywheel when I try the carb if I can get it to fit my mikuni intake. Will be about a month though as my mini is kept at my mother-in-laws which is about 100 miles from me. Curious about this as well. Maybe this will turn out to be a cheep alternative to the Chinese 22mm mikuni knockoff. If not then o well right? We will never know if one of us don't try it.

Man I hope the pz20 carb fits the mikuni22 intake manifold/adapter! (Or someone can find an intake mani/adapter that will fit the clone/pz20 carb)

I feel like it might be a good midpoint between the stock carb and 22mm mikuni (which I feel may be too big for my build)

I don't think the 22 is too big. I believe they use pz26 carbs on 200cc quads that are rated at around 9-10HP. I think the 22 is sized good even for a stock motor but I guess we will see if this 20 is any better. I want good throttle response at low speed.

I will say that if this works I can get this cab with a filter, an intake and throttle cable for about the price of a .650 bore carb. I have high hopes for this. This would be good for a budget build I am doing. My head I have on one motor has smaller ports and might benefit from this nicely. The ports are about 1mm smaller than a 196 head. Non of my motors spin that high either. I shoot for 5,500 to 6k on my motors.

OK got the PZ20. Will start a thread on it soon. It is quiet a bit smaller than the mikuni 22 knock off that I have. Still looks slightly larger than my. 650 but I don't have access to a flow bench to know if it flows any more or less than the stock carburetor. The bolt pattern is the same as the 22 but it uses smaller bolts and is threaded on the carb flange. The o ring gasket is too small in diameter to seal on my mikuni intake. Might try using the o ring from the larger carburetor as well as stock o ring. If that dose not work I will try making a gasket and If that dose not work I will use black RTV sealer. There is what looks like a small check ball on out side of gasket that I am in sure if I can seal off or not with out causing issues. Just have to find some bolts and a throttle cable now. Might throw my BSP motor together so I have a test motor for the carb. This testing will take me a little while. Got a baby due in a few weeks on top of other things so be patient with me on this one. It will get done just not soon.
