Boosted, Blown or doped?

You can build an electric bike for about the same cost (if not cheaper) that will behave like a kitten when you want it to. Cruise around the block or the pits silent as can be. But can also make more HP and more torque with an instant torque curve. Also doesn't need near the maintenance. No choking alky fumes, no diluted oil or clogged carbs. no fluids of any kind spilling and almost no noise.

It does suck initially to pay for and/or build the battery. And having multiple packs and constant charging between rounds can get old quick. Though I don't race professionally and just do it for fun.

My E-bikes slowly lose power after each run as the voltage drops. But I can get in a solid 10 330' pulls and cruise the pits all night on one charge with battery to spare. So not horrible. Bike pulls over 40KW of power fully charged. That's 53.6hp and ridiculous amounts of instant TQ. Talking like 80-90 ft lbs.

For small frame race toys, electricity is the replacement for displacement. IMHO that is... ;)

Don’t get me wrong I enjoy a GOOD exhaust note. But if you think a typical minibike has a good exhaust note...

I stick by my statement. If you want “fast” with the ability for it to be a dual purpose pit bike like vehicle. EV is hands down the way to go. I’ll give up the noise for 5x the acceleration. Not to mention in many situations the noise isn’t welcome. Camp vehicles, late nights, quiet neighborhoods etc.

Fast and scooter in the same sentance. This is a minibike site. There are plenty of EV sites, and even motorized bicycle sites where lovers of EV chime in and crow about how much better a mid drive is than a Chinese two stroke- and so on. You appear to have only had a few Predator 212 engines, and for a lot of us, those suck too. So yes, the exhaust note of my rebuilt sixty year old Briggs and Stratton sporting a Keihin round slide clone, and stainless 3/4" turn out on a Schwinn Stingray is fricking awesome. It would have been so easy to slide in an electric motor, but I have a soul.

It's not just about an exhaust note either. There's something visceral and indescribably appealing about the ICE sensory experience. To get it, you have to experience it and if you experience it, it needs no explanation. If you don't get it, it feels like this conversation.

This is what I was thinking
It's like how non-car people don't understand the appeal of a good sounding cars. We car people all have different preferences for what car noises we like or don't like (and more than noises ofc). Non-car people don't have a preference at all.
I will ride my mini and hear the hopped up 5hp briggs with my muffler of choice. Knowing that there is a piston slinging around in there under high load with a chain reaction of intake combustion and exhaust when knowing every inside out piece in there, and feeling those pieces with my own hands when I modded it just gives me the feels... It is for sure an "if you know you know" thing. For some people this isn't the case, which is okay, but really, it's what your goal is. that matters. Do you want to get to the end of the strip as fast as possible? Do you want to prioritize less maintenance, and maybe find dealing with the fluids, smells, or complications of an ICE is a hassle? Cool! don't get one then... Maybe electric is for you.

I love flathead sounds. The mechanical clatter, the exhaust notes speaking to me as we explore the woods, but I prefer the harmony of a properly tuned and geared two stroke. I do, however have one electric thing. It's the starter on my son's Predator 420 mud mower.
