Briggs tiller engine

#1
Got a 5 horse Briggs engine with the reverse shaft driven by the cam... just out of curiosity, does the cam come off of the shaft, or is it supposed to come out as one piece (i.e., cam attached to the crankcase cover) when the engine is disassembled? I've tried to remove the camshaft from the cover, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

The cam with the reverse shaft is all one piece and the cover should come off like a regular engine.

I have an old $20 tiller engine that I cut the shaft off, and it's been such a good runner that my son put it in his Bonanza.

Here it is in a Cat.
