Carb keeps leaking gas!

Have a 71 Rupp Roadster and Hustler. Both have what I believe to be the correct slanted manifold. Both have new carbs. Both leak gas out of the choke. What am I missing?!

The original carb was a diagram type which works fine on a slant, if this new carb is the float type they want to be level.

It was my understanding that the slanted manifold corrected for the engine angle and leveled the carburetor such that a modern, non-diagram part could function properly?

You can run a Tecumseh carb on a slanted application without a slanted manifold....I’d say your carb float needs adjusted...looks like China carbs with Tecumseh bowls...make sure the bowl gasket fits correctly too...float needle may be sticking also...tap the bowl area with something lightly....
