Custom "Shortster"

So I am building a bike. I found a project on CL and picked it up for $75. I'd been wanting something to work on and this seemed to fit the bill. While I do want build a full size bike someday, I thought a mini would be good way to get some practice. Of course now I'm hooked on the little bike and am building it for its own sake. While looking around I found OldMiniBikes and have learned a lot and gotten some real inspiration.
So I's like to post pics and updates of my build.
I'll start by posting all the pics I have taken so far.

Front End

I'm using the front end off a Suzuki Savage. I had to source some bearings but found some that will work.

that front end looks a lot better :thumbsup: i actually have the comet driven , jack shaft, sprocket ,chain ,rear wheel and shocks for that bike if you need any spare parts !!! what motor are you going to go with ?

Cool thanks, will let you know if I need parts. The bike came with a gernac engine but it does not have the right output shaft. I like the idea of electric start and running lights but I like what I am seeing about the Predators too. So I'll figure out the engine once I get the frame done. :shrug:

I got some black oxide wheels from OldMiniBikes but the holes don't line up with hub I have. So I'm work on drilling new ones this weekend to get the hub to fit.
While I am partial to the flat black look I am keeping an open mind about color and whether to paint or powder coat.

Today I picked up a Hemi Predator. I'm really trying to decide what to do with the frame. Part of me says go all out. Cut it and modify it to how I see it in my head. But the other part of me says to just leave it alone. I will be mocking it up over the next couple weeks to decide.

Trinik7597 What condition is that rear wheel you have? I got one from OldMiniBikes but the "hub holes" don't line up with the Shortster hub and the original is not in good shape.

So I am still committed to this build. Boss has me working six days a week, good for the bank account but bad for the build. Ive decided to lower and stretch the frame. Gonna have to wait on my helicopter mechanic friend for the welding cause, while I can weld I don't trust my skills for something folks are gonna ride around. In the mean time I will be getting the wheels and shocks ready and sourcing an gas tank.
