At mfgsupply.com I saw some different 35# sprockets ranging from 60 to 72 teeth, with a cost of $12-15. Reducing the number of teeth should give you a higher top end, and increasing them better low end. The question is do you want better pulling power (quicker starts), or higher top end?
What type of performance are you looking for? For $30, you could try both!
I even found an 80 tooth sprocket at TEwarehouse.com, so if you are a big boy (200lbs +), it shold get you moving.
