Double Indian Carlisle

Like the title says, what’s the big deal with double head Carlisle? Can someone enlighten me?

They were original equipment on some bikes and are no longer available. People doing proper restorations look for the original parts to make them exactly as built. Rubber degrades overtime and finding decent original useable tires is difficult .

Cool. We’re there single head Carlisle’s? I’ve got a few kicking around and I don’t recall seeing that in particular.

I like this thread as I too have wondered "what's with those double Indian head tires?". I think they simply became more distinguishable from "regular" tires with a boring/simple name. Plus you have the actual Indian heads cast into the sidewalls, which gave them some character. Kind of like Tecumseh and it's traditional Indian head logo used on engine shrouds/blower housings. It's all about the branding.

Have one I pulled off one of superfleas powells…actually in very good shape….rest are just generals…
