Last night was the final round ot the AMA Grand Natl flat track series. Every now and then a race series will have a special vibe and this year it was this one. It came down to the final round, w/8 points separating the top three positions. Going into last night's Pamona, Calif. half-mile race the championship outcome was anyone's guess. Sammy Halbert was my pick, followed by Mees and Johnon, but I guessed wrong. Johnson is a seasoned vet and a very worthy champion. Congrats to him. I made it to two rounds this year, Sacramento, Calif. and Castle Rock, Wash. I sure wish I'd been there last night...
