fuel pump

... whats the best way to hook up a diaphram fuel pump to a 5 horse briggs should i use the crank case breather on the valve cover? if so do they sell valve covers that already have the fitting on them for the vacum hose? let me know thanks! austin,

dont use the crankcase breather, you can drill and tap the side cover, ( in the right spot) and use a small fitting available at a hardware store and then the line,

Does your sidecover look EXACTLY like this?

if so, on the left side theres filler cap, and directly above that a flat on the top part
that is flat, and doesnt have a cap, you can drill and doit there,

A picture would be nice, I dont have a better one handy, I could always photoshop
instructions on it for you, its not hard

thanks i put it all together last night it works like a dream i gotta rebuild my fuel pump the diaphrams are getting weak and i dont want to get gas in my oil but i ran it last night for a few minutes and its perfect thanks again

I have done them both ways. On tecumsehs I removed the governor shaft and threaded a pipe nipple into the hole and used that to run the fuel pump. On a briggs 8hp, I tapped a hole in the top of the intake manifold and threaded in a fitting. Both work fine. I think briggs governor holes are too close to the oil level and would bubble oil into the pulse line.
