Gusset bushing or bigger bolt?

[1967 Tempest]

So I got the Trail Blzer up and running this past weekend. I call it, The Speedy Turtle. I mean the picture says why. I made the seat and got a little crazy. It is almost a bench seat for a mini!

Anyway, the gusset is missing the bushing. It is 3/4" ID . I currently have a 5/8" bolt going through the gusset and the forks.

Would it be easier to just get a 3/4" bolt and not worry about the bushing? Thanks.

I will post a video of it. It is wicked fast on a clutch. Might not go TAV!!

I could always weld on a strengthening washer to the forks...

you need to get to the hardware store or order some bushings from OldMiniBikes right away before you bugger everything up! they are a couple bucks and slip in to the tube.

Yeah, I got a little crazy on the seat... It is comfortable though...:grind:

i got a set at the hardware store yesterday. A better hardware store had them.

They fit great and the forks are nice and tight. The Speedy Turtle turns nice!!!

:thumbsup: I would have hated to see that headtube get all tore up! the bikes they made where its just a bolt running through the tube can haunt you later, better to replace bushing now and again then try to get a stuck or bent 3/4" bolt out down the line.
