Heli-coil over aluminum threads?

Project farm on youtube did a great video on heli-coils. Seems they are much stronger then aluminum threads.

I and others have had constant trouble keeping the exhaust from rattling loose. After a few times it wipes out the block threads.

In his video the bolts threaded into aluminum stripped easy. Bolts threaded into heli-coils broke the bolt head off. After the broken bolt was extracted the coil was still in good shape.

I’m gonna try them out to see if there any help in keeping the exhaust/intake tight to the block. They are extremely easy to install. DA1663C1-5CB7-43EF-98C0-D9A26FD3D552.jpeg EE41F40F-9576-4A84-ADC1-6279EDFF6692.jpeg

I have been installing them in spark plug holes in Ford garbage trucks for many years. There are different brands and different types of installation, but if you can find "Heli Coil" brand in your size and pitch, I strongly recommend that you buy it, with the installation kit.

I was an aerospace machinist before retirement. EVERY threaded hole in a new aluminum or magnesium part was tapped for Heli-Coils from the start. This would allow disassembly and reassembly for preventative maintenance for the life of each part. You are trusting your life on them with every airplane flight you take. GOOD STUFF! :)
