Help Id my engine

I got it for next to nothing. New plug and fuel and adjusting the mixture screws got it running pretty good. its in an old edger.

just from looking at it I thought a tec 3 but the numbers are strange. I figured it was rebadged as a "craftsman" but what year? the model number is very briggs like

its pretty cool. it has a large black primer bubble on the top of the motor. I have never seen that before.

I have a tecumseh 1605a 2.75hp 2 stroke that has one of them primer bubbles but dosnt have a tank attached like that one

was the first time id seen it too, bought it for $50 with a brand new max torque 5/8" clutch on it. runs great, havnt put it on anything yet but im working on a few things.

I still havent figured out how old this thing is. It runs good. It wont idle but I havent done anything to it yet. Its still attached to the edger. I might just keep it on the edger for now and use it.
