most likely a #35 chain.measure sprocket.tooth tip to tooth tip .. 1/4" is #25 ..3/8" is #35 ..1/2" is #40/41..this is what I found on search images of chain and sprocket sizing

More info is required, What's it on?

Whats your wheel size and how many teeth are on all your sprockets ( less the clutch ) of course. :glare:

I have a vt5 bronc tire are 21/12-8 sproket on rim is 60t 1/2" pitch and that goes to a little sproket with 9t I don't know that part with the gears is called but the other sided sproket has 40t with 3/8 pitch.... Hopefully this good information o and engine I will be using I am not sure yet.... ( I have a 5hp Briggs with 3/4 shaft) or a (Tecumseh hs40 with a 1" shaft)

Well if its the stock VT5 rear sprocket you need #40 chain on that side  Your jack shaft sprocket is a #35  I would have to do the math but I think with the gearing you have the bike will climb a tree at about 2 mph and probably burn up the clutch :doah: Lose the 40 tooth #35 sprocket and the clutch and put a TAV on it
