HS40 thought, Will it work?

#1
So I've been doing some engine testing.
I was wondering if my Tecumseh engine would fire with a lighted flywheel and a non- lighted coil.
I have surmised so far no it has a jolt when I hold the plug wire but no spark when connected to the plug.
So am I correct in assuming that the Non- lighted coil won't jive with the lighted flywheel?

It should work. I can't see why it wouldn't. As long as it can charge the coil and condenser, then it will work.

My question is why would you want to do this? Why not run a normal flywheel?

the dimensions are different between the lighted and non lighted parts, the combination you are using causes too much of an air gap.

Thank You Cap and Markus,
I did it for the fact
1. The HS40 I have has a non-lighted coil already on it and I have yet to get a non- lighted flywheel.
2. I have not decided if I want a non- lighted coil on this engine
3. The fact how do you learn and figure things out without trials and errors.

Hello, I have a non-lighted flywheel for the HS 40. Willing to swap you for the lighted wheel. I would pay shipping both ways.
If interested please PM me.

As much as I appreciate your offer
I am in need of one more lighted coil and flywheel.
As well as two HS40 69 or 70 vintage blow housings
to complete my two 3" PTO shaft engines.
So as you can see I cant give up the only lighted flywheel I have.
Thank you for your kind and generous offer.
