jackshaft

I'm putting a predator 6.5 hp on a baja db 30. The 2.8 hp engine had a pmr jack shaft on it. I put on the predator engine. My question should I have the clutch drive the larger sprocket and have the smaller sprocket drive the rear sprocket. Or does it make
a difference.

You want the clutch driving the larger sprocket.

There would be a big difference if you had the large sprocket chained to the wheel sprocket. It would cancel what the jackshaft is there for.

Not sure why you would want a jackshaft on it with a 212. The jackshaft is a good idea with the smaller less powerful engine, but not with 212 power.

Personally, I would consider a jackshaft as an upgrade and use it if you already have it. Sometimes it is nice to be able to adjust/play with the final drive gear ratio. If you are riding off-road and/or hills (low speed) you can gear it lower so you do not overheat or burn up the clutch. On the contrary, if you riding on flat/smooth pavement (higher speed) you can gear it higher.
