Compared with the production version, there were plenty of subtle differences. I mostly restored this R1 about fifteen (>15) years ago, but have recently taken a new interest in it (in other words, I have more time on my hands).

For my next project, I want to build a second frame (I already have nearly all the parts to complete it, except an actual chassis) so I can run both a single engine and dual engine classes at my next VKA** event.

There's an R1 on Ebay right now starting at $1600. About a quarter of what it would cost to restore one from a neglected state.

What fun! Who knew don Knotts was into karting? Even if just staged, he sure looked like he enjoyed it.
I know nothing about karting, but I'd love to try it.
