Well, I am scheduled to go in for number five surgery( 6 if you count the hip replacement) on 3/13. Since I last wrote on this, I had second failure and like an idiot I went back to the same doctor for the number 3 surgery. During this non-weight bearing recuperation I decided to heed well-given advice and get a second opinion. I actually found a doctor who specializes this kind of break. He xrays the current fix and proceeds to tell that yeah this repair is failing also. He showed me where the screws showed movement and one of the cables was already broken. So surgery is scheduled for about 4 weeks from that date. Well that was on a Friday and Monday the internal device failed again. So I was in quickly for surgery number 4. This time the new doctor went in and removed all the hardware the other butcher put in and he also removed the new hip metal I received last May. In its place I have a ball antibiotic cement and a metal tube coated in antibiotics running thru the length of my femur. As I write this I have no left hip joint and I am on no weight bearing. This stage is to kill any hidden infection and to let the surgical inflammation quiet down. So on the 13th I will go in for a new hip and bone grafts and more metal and hopefully this takes hold because the word amputation has been used in a few discussions. If I had gone to this new Doc after the first failure I'd probably be walking right now. Talent wise between these two MDs, it would be like comparing my engine rebuild to that Markus' and others. During this last stretch I lost my oldest Brother on 12/5/2022. I am keeping my head above water but this last stretch has really weighed me down. Just thought I'd update you all and I don't mean to bring you down but this site has helped me in biding time and thinking about fun stuff. I appreciate all of you. Keep on Truckin' Fred the Fleaman

I don’t know you Sir but it sounds like you are on the right path now. I truly hope for an excellent outcome and that you can put this terrible situation behind you soon. By the comparison you made it certainly sounds highly likely. This site is great and the members amazing. I’m a pretty new member and it took very little time to see that. The fact that it helps you makes it that much better. I’ll look for you and hope you’re on often as that would probably coincide with your health improving. Be well and get well, Bill

Fred, we've never met but I can appreciate what you're having to deal with. I fractured my skull and neck about 15 years ago. Permanent pain all over my body since - but - I consider myself fortunate, all things aside. All the Dr's and Specialists tried putting me on a cocktail of pain meds but I wasn't about to go down that rabbit hole. Instead I found a really decent Homeopathic Dr. and with her help and some work of my own I'm dealing with the issues just fine. I don't know if you're interested but I'll throw this out there. Look up Dr Joe Dispenza. Keep an open mind because buddy, I gotta tell you - it works.

I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one wondering if we could mount a little Tecumseh or Briggs on that wheelchair for you. Heal up my friend and think good thoughts, I definitely will.
YEAH !!, I like this idea. Be well Fred, I'm not sure what your weather is like but it's still cruddy here for the most part - a good time to rest and recuperate.
