I've read that before but it seems lots of people are using them in race motors. I've also read Hondas are forged steel while clones are not. I'm considering using one in a Bonneville Fuel Sidecar Streamliner. Would that be a mistake?
Sorry to comment in late, but the predator hemi crankshafts are forged too. They are pretty tough and can handle a beating, but as for longer term durability I'd say the honda would be better as they are better quality overall.
That is a good question that has been addressed many times...
While the Honda crank is stronger and will not flex as much as a clone crank they are more brittle.
On the other hand the clone crank is not as brittle and will flex more...
It is pretty much 6 or 2 3's
I have had both Hondas and clones pop the jugs off... The Honda bent the crank did not break but the internals were fubar, the clone broke the crank but the rest of the internals were okay...
