Rupp Roadster Light Issue (1970)

Hope this is the section for the post..So I have a completely original 1970 Rupp Roadster. The headlight and tailight are very dim, to the point of barely seen. Have gone through the wiring connections and replaced the headlamp as original was burned out. Could the lighting coil be an issue? Appreciate any recommendations!

Could be...
Unplug the wiring harness where it comes out of the engine and test the voltage with a simple multimeter and report back with your results. Ours is around 10.5 volts at idle then goes to 12volts when the engine revs up.

Just to add onto the correct advice from Michael, The connector on the lighted tecumseh on yours should have 3 pins, one for the kill sw and the other 2 are unregulated AC for the lights. The two AC wires are next to each other and the bottom single wire is the kill sw. You should be able to measure each wire to ground (something on the motor block) and get around 8 volts at idle. Set your meter to AC setting.

A lighted motor should have two coils. The red wire and bla k wire are two separate sources are you getting. 4volts between ground and ea h wire
