Rupp scrambler clutch alignment

#1
I put a 5 hp briggs i/c on my Rupp scrambler.
I was just wondering about belt alignment and how to do it properly.

If anybody has any info it would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks
Jeremy

I think it is like this, On the driven unit, on the inside edge of the outer plate, on the outside edge if you extend a line from it perpendicular to the jackshaft. It should line up with the bottom of the out side plate on the driver unit where it meets the bushing. I know this is wordy, but i hope it makes sense. The belt will look straight when it is correct. good luck!

Oh No! please don't tell me you're putting a chinese clone in a 1971 Rupp Black Widow????
Oh yeah! Just wait and see. Nothing needs to be changed in order to do it, I've already had it mounted up and everything lined up.

I'm keeping the HS40 to put back in when I decide to sell it.

The 4HP motor on it is a slug, its not even fun to ride as it is now. It takes off great, then it falls on its face. It will wheelie out from under you, but get going up a good long hill on a gravel road, it barely will pull it.

I have the plates and insurance on it now, but I'm afraid to take it on the road because it won't get out of its own way.

That set up was for the symetrical torque converter. I have seen a few people put clones on rupps. It hard to argue with the power per dollar ratio! But they dont look right in there, just my opinion. I bought a clone recently, and I am planning on puttin on one of my rupps in the future. let us know how it works out fot ya.
