Just doing some window shopping and saw this. e-bay

A pair of Reflectors, nice and A type I would like, price reasonable.

Should have known, 39.00 to ship a pair of reflectors :eek:ut: to Canada !

But, then again the rest of their auctions are the same.

Some people:eek:

Yes, a lot of the time.

But, shipping is not cheap in the first place.

When I shipped Jim his forks it was 33.50, to ship 9-lbs to him.

I needed axle's from the US shipped to me, so Jim did me the favor.

9-lbs was the axles, 52.00 to ship the axles to me.:mad2:

Same distance, same locations , different post offices.

You guys have it so lucky, this hobby and some others are not a big thing here in Canada.

So I have no Mini bike shows close by, no swap meets, no local mini bikes or parts to buy.

I hunt the internet so much and do so much research, to get the best price, and then check that shipping is the best as well.

Only to find out they don't ship here or they don't take p/pal

Its as much a challenge finding parts, as it is building the bike sometimes.

I'll admit its the post office and not the seller, and I know that.

But, in a case like these reflectors, the seller will just tell me " That's what the e-bay Calculator says "
and not mind they are ripping someone off.

Just be glad you don't live in the UK! We got a buddy there that will get taxed 4 times the price of the item! you can send him a " gift" but you have to have a tax value. :doah:

Buying tools there is also crazy.

Oh man,

I get stuff from all over, UK, AU, China, Japan, etc

I watch the shipping and dollar change.

Oh, an never do UPS, they always charge extra at my door.

An for whatever reason, Hong Kong is always the slowest shipping.

Ebay now tries to get US sellers to use their shipping calculator.

This adds a broker fee to the shipping and raises the cost significantly.

USPS used to be cheap to ship too, and they still are in the USA.
But international shipping is getting expensive as hell.
I suspect this is a reaction to counter some of the costs from low shipping prices in other countries.

I would like to buy more from the USA, but the fact is its getting difficult to do without a pick up poin in the USA.

I like to hold Finland up as the best shipper modle I have ever seen.
28 erou gets me a flat rate box shipped to Canada no extra charges.
Free return shipping items in Finland ( does not aply to us obviously but WOW )
I have no idea what teh weight limits are but the boxes keep gettting biggger and heavier with only that 28 dollar charge.

One more thing...
The Feds have cranked up the presure for Canada boarder services to tax everything coming in.
The numbers show a lot of people buying international these days to escape the high tax and weak competition in Canadian retail.
It's sad thing when its cheaper to buy from half way across the world than in your own home town ( so the feds tax you to make it un economic )

"Oh, an never do UPS, they always charge extra at my door."
This is the broker fee I was talking about...
USPS and Canada post have aways included this asa free service.
They do the paper work for you on importing small items.
UPS and FedEX do not and this is where we get back to that Ebay thing.
The include the cost on whomever you ship with and I suspect pocket the money.

Alibaba owns its own shipper.
I can't get the name off the tip of my toung but they do not charge the broker fees, and best of all will lie to the tax man and see free or warrenty to avoid the VAT taxes at the boarder.
Seems only fair to me to do this....
Big business can lie about taxes and rich people can avoid taxes time we find ways to get away with being cheats too ( fair is fair )
