How was that circular flange mounted?
There are several circular flanges. The first of which came off with the larger shell by removing outside bolts. Everything now has either been held in place by circlips or friction and now this is what's left, which I can't seem to figure out. Appears to be a press-fit, sleeved cam shaft extension, plus a bearing.

From behind the flange, I just noticed that bearing and thought maybe I'm trying to move too much at once. I don't know if there's a key on the other side of the bearing collar..

So I tapped the flange back toward the motor (first time I gave that a thought), and the flange and bearing slid backwards to expose more of the cam's journal. Now to get a better grip on that cam shaft.

This pump's fluid is messy and slippery. Hydraulic fluid? Looks like gravy and smells like pencil erasers. I've seen it before...
