Tecumseh Dial indicator

I just got my dial indicator in the mail, (Tec. #670241) and it is missing the little extension leg that screws on to the end. Does anyone know where I can get this part, or is there a machinist out here that has one and can make me a copy? I will gladly pay what it's worth, but I don't want to buy a whole other tool just for this part.

I would think that if it's supposed to be included they'd work with you, or did you not buy it new? I'll see if I can find out if it's available seperately.

No, I bought it used. (ebay) The tool itself is like new, just missing the extension leg.

Ignition timing. The indicator screws into the cylinder head trough the spark plug hole and the extension leg goes over the bore. This way you can find TDC.

I did mine with the head off so I didn't need the special tool. You can see my setup in my photo section.

Yeah, that's how I've been doing them too, I finally just got around to getting the tool so I don't have to yank the head.

Page 69 of the Tec service manual shows a pic of the gauge and extender tip I think you are talking about. I was hoping that they would show a pt# for the tip. I don't know if it is a standard machinist type of tool or not, never seen one before. You might take a copy of that page to a gauge supply shop and see what they say.

give E-Z bore a call 757-898-5645. they may know what you need. they make lots of measuring devices. and engine building tools. ask for John Moore one hell of a nice guy.
