Tecumseh engine on a generator question.

#1
I have a Tecumseh generator that I have seperated and plan on using the engine in a trike. The crankshaft doesn't have a keyway slot in it and is tapered
about an inch from the end. Is there some way to use a sprocket or clutch on the crank without swapping the crank?

Don'the think so.
Pretty sure you will need it to be keyed so you can lock your clutch onto the shaft.
It has been discussed earlier somewhere on this forum.
Sort of remember either change cranks or machine a keyway and thread the end of the crank.
Try a search for tapered crank. Should find several threads addressing this subject.

If it had a key yes. I sold a military engine to a guy that put it on a bike for windber, all he did was have a space between bolt and clutch over taper. But the shaft was keyed as well as tapered
