I think it the second # in each size that is your tire width. You can usually run an inch or two smaller on the rim width depending on how much sidewall bulge you want the tire to have. At least that is what I use to guage my truck tires. Example: 32x11.50x15 tire = 11.5" wide tire will fit my 8" wide truck rim.

Ok, kool.

Car tire; 205/70R15 = 205 tired wide/ 70 sidewall - 15 rim x rim wide.
which could be 6", 6.5" or 7" wide.

but, that's why I asked.
