Today's Craigslist Find

Brought these little guys home tonight. Two 1980 Honda C70s. The VINs are a few hundred units apart, but the license plates are sequential. They're just really nice bikes. The front basket has been taken off of one, but I have it. Neither one appears to have ever been dropped. Each has its original tool kit. One bike has just under 700 miles, the other a few less than 300. Electric start!

I remember hearing on the news a couple of years ago when production passed 60 million units. They're 71" long x 60,000,000 = 4,260,000,000" /12 = 355,000,000' /5,280 = 67,234.8 miles if all were placed end to end. Divide that by the earth's circumference, 24,901 miles = 2.7. So, two parallel rows of bikes all the way around the world, and a third row going 2/3 of the way round.

With that many out there, how come it's so hard to find nice ones? I've been looking for a year. And why couldn't they have been the blue color that I wanted most?

Great find Tom
I had one as a kid. I thrashed on it for years trail riding and couldn't kill it.

Are those the 3 speeds?

This ebay sale made me feel like I paid a fair price. Pretty good shape, but not quite as nice as mine, and a lot more miles. The pair I bought have almost never been ridden. I took them down to DMV this am to get titles and plates and the clerk there was just sort of dumbstruck. They gave me plates w/sequential license numbers, like were on the Washington plates that they came with.

Here's a pic from our first outing on Saturday. My buddy took this from the other bike.

Hey Tom,

Those are beautiful  !

Nice of the dmv person to do the sequential tags.

People love a story, and to be part of continuing it !

Wow, finding one bike in that condition would be very hard to do. Finding 2 is almost unheard of. Very nice and fun to ride. My wife has a Cub 50 that is pretty nice, but with a ton of miles on it. We like the old Hondas too, reliable and tough as nails when the miles get up in the xxxx.

That's an awesome find Tom! That is the same bike I had back in the early 80's to cruise the street with, same color too! I went all over the place with mine and the Cops thought it was a moped so I never got a ticket! Everytime that I rode my 1976 CR 250 three blocks over to get on the trails, I usually got nabbed. That bike was like stealth for me and not so good with the ladies though!
