About how much slack should there be in the two drive chains? Thanks

1/2" to 3/4" movement is about right. I tried to find what the manuals suggested, but I didn't find anything.

They were more than 1/2" to 3/4". The belt is still slipping a little, though that could be due to it being old and likely stretched. The engine is running and idling without having to stay on the throttle, however it seems to miss at mid to high rev.

I may also need to look at checking the engine compression. Could need a valve job or cylinder head carbon cleaning.

I swapped out the fuel nozzle from the new old stock military carb I bought off of Ebay and it runs much better.
