tote gote? what model?

#9
I just brought a Model "P" home yesterday. In looking it over..and cleaning it up..."what is the round rod bracket that is welded to the frame..at the rear..right where the rear sprocket is ??..Shows on the picture of the "P" frame. Looks like it would interfere with the chain.Also..The seller gave me a clutch..MaxTorque..with a pulley on it. I thought Gotes had a spcial clutch..Salsbury or Climber.. Will the MAX work...and what is the length of the belt ? Does anyone know of a souce for the saddle bearings for the shafts ?..thanks..JV

The round rod is a guard to keep sticks and rocks from catching in chain. The original clutch was called a 'climb-away' clutch and was built by Bonham Corp. They are getting hard to find since none have been built since the early 70's.
