Hello Jparker : Well you have a good looking Tri-Sport TS series of trike The name Alsport is the name of the parent company and covers all their product line ups. The Tri-Sport you have was about from about 1971. Your rear wheels are not stock nor is the engine using a centrifugal clutch. That makes it a one speed trike and just don't cut it in off road use and with the higher weight of a trike your trike came with a torque converter. Nothing wrong with your engine it just needs to outfitted with a drive system that will give you that low gearing for take off and the higher gearing as less torque is sensed by the driven half of the clutch. You need to study up on how torque converters work and the difference between symmetric and asymmetric systems. Best place for that is on Go Kart Parts | Go Kart Supply Online Catalog they tell the whole story there. Your trike has the bolt on jack shaft and that is stock. Nice to see that your motor plate has not been chopped up as many are. Here to help in any way. Steve :scooter:

can this bike be modified to be street legal?
i have called the Minstry of transportation and they are requesting info about it.
weather it is manufactured from a dealer, i have no ownship or v.i.n numbers
is there anyway that you know of to get ahold of that inormation?
i live in ontario, canada and the m.t.o has never heard of a tri sport.
i was also wondering what these machines sold for back in the 70's?

that is true.
where were these machines built?
when i bought it all i was told was it was built in the states and it was 1971-72
i am just not quite sure on how to get proof it was factory made and not something i built in my garage!
did they come with ownerships?

Well the Tri-Sports made only one Street Attempt in 1974 when the gas crunch was here in the USA. I sold some of them in 1974 I went back to get one from a friend that I had sold then and restored it my way. It saw painted in the colors of Mark Martin's # 6 Viagra car and it would carry this fat man 70 MPH on the Portland, Oregon freeways.
I have made two other Tri-Sports street legal prior to 1974 one an 8 HP RTS and the other had a 290Cc CCW snowmobile engine. Both of these were made in California going through the DMV for plating.

Jparker : I think a trike back then with only front suspension sold in Long Beach, California for around $500.00 and up I have had a lot of Tri-sports and never got tired of the riding on or off road.
