Whats your favorite car, hot rod, bike?

I like it...a lot...

I'm heavy into the 'rat' or anti-chrome stuff...

I'm just so tired of CNC machine-made stuff, and really bright chrome.

There's a huge amount of interest in the multi-axis machines that can shape 3D profiles, and do stuff that would be impossible for a human to make, but I like to see the stuff made by guys the old-fashioned way...a torch and a hammer.

That's what impresses me...all the tools someone DIDN'T use to make something that's different, and therefore much more interesting.

And you can't hide anything if you don't paint it...it takes some stones to leave it raw...pretty paint can hide some really ugly stuff.

I'll be taking some time off from building minibikes for a while...I need to put some hours in on the 34 Ford Coupe street rod and build a couple full-size bobbers.

I'm not overly enthused with the coupe...tube chassis/fiberglass body...like a thousand others it'll be parked next to at shows.

We did a 1941 Dodge pickup steel body RatRod a while back that was much cooler...and unique...didn't ever see another one anything like it...sold it when the offers just got unrefuseable.

I spent a lot of hours with a torch and a set of hammers gently tapping the dents out of that Dodge body...never painted it...just primer...that was definitely my favorite hot rod...we made all kinds of weird junkyard parts for that thing...

I like it,cool looking rat rod. there was a guy at are local car shows that built a 30's rat rod truck with a 348 tri power. had the same look:thumbsup:
looks like rat rods are starting to get real big at local shows. i wish i had more time. i like to get my 50f1 ford truck out and build a nice suspension and just throw body back on(barnyard red, original paint still on the truck, most of it). maybe keep the flat head engine in it. also like the old ardun heads. give's it that fat engine look, like an old hemi engine.
http://www.ardun.com/engine.htm
here's a picture of it. truck was at my buddys place when a took the picture. lot junk around it:rolleyes5: i have the truck close to home now. with bunch of minibike frames and parts in the back of it:ciappa:

i see both sides of it at shows. guys that just buy something and just bolt it on and think it cool and pay someone to do the work? for me i like building everything on the car,engine,tran,paint,fab-parts,etc......
also think alot of guys are starting to build rat rods, because its easyer and cheaper to build and you dont have to compete with it. but not all true for some guys. i will still build a show car again. like my 58 chevy and drive it and still get best of show. but a trophy not everything. I just like going to shows and seeing all the different stuff that guys build and fab-up on there cars and having a goodtime talking to everybody:thumbsup:
O'ya and cruising my car:thumbsup:

There ya go...

If somebody just buys a bunch of expensive parts and bolts them on, I'm only impressed by the (former) size of their wallet...

I wanna see the part(s) they designed and made themselves...then I'll be truly impressed.

I've said it before...for me, the 'best of show' is usually sitting out in the parking lot...and will be driven (or ridden) home.

Very nice cars. I`m a mustang fan too. I have an 88 thunderbird sport with all the options. I put a few bolt ons and it`s just as fast as an ho 5.0. It`s basically a stock standard 5.0 with the ford traction lock rear end. 5.0`s are fun and cheap to build. I really dont liek anything about the new 05 mustangs. too over priced and not enough aftermarket parts yet and too complicated computers.

Okay I guess I will go. As you can problably tell I use to own a red nova. But know we have a new car we are working on.

1978 z-28 camaro. The power plant is a 427 big block :thefinger: . Rear end is a 9 inch ford and the tranny is a super t10 4 speed. Still needs alot of body work but we will get it done.

Thanks. I used to have an '89 GT before those two and a '65 notchback before that. In fact, the built engine in my '68 was originally put together for the '89. Now I'm looking for an early '70s Pinto or Capri to put a 2.3 turbo into.

I like Gremlins..... Alot... But Im a Fan of lots of cars. As for bike's
Lord......Dont get me started..
HAHAHAHAHA! My son turns 15 and one night he tells me what car he wants and says what he wants is a "classic",,, I says GREAT whta kind I says and list off all my favorite 60's cars and he says no,,, "I want a 1971 Gremlin",, I says A GREMLIN?!!,,,, GREMLIN????!!!!!! :doah::doah::mad2::mad2: We used to laugh at Gremlins!

Then we looked at some pic's of 1971 V8's and I guess looking at them today isn't so bad.

ME? I like most convertables from the 50's and 60's. My favorite that I owned was a 1966 GTO tri power E code "nightwatch blue" 4 speed convertable.

I have .030 401 with a tci th400 with 2800 stall and ford 9" in mine.
Its definetly a weirdo car I agree but if you show up to a car show with one of them no one wants to be parked buy you because people just go right past their car to look at the Gremlin :) This Spring we had a a guy in our AMC club get a 1974 Matador going in prostreet form. He parked next to a guy with a cloned Shelby cobra that was cherry and everyone kept spending a ton of time looking over the Matador. He was erked :) But he agreed......When was the last time anyone saw one?

If your son's looking at them he better find one shortly. When I got my car in 03 they were still pretty cheap and 401's where still out there to be had.
Now that people are starting to build AMC's parts Prices have went through the roof. I paid $3k for my non running factory v8 Gremlin and now the same car would bring about $6k.

The Running 6cyl cars in clean shape get about the same as well.

I wanted a Pacer to shoehorn a 440ci into but I couldnt get the wife to go for it. I wanted to install a Licorice dispenser into it like the Garth mobile LOL!

Vegas and Mavericks went through the roof as well.
I almost had a factory 360 Amc Hornet but the guy lost the title and I didnt want any part of that nightmare trying to get another.

The nice thing about Gremlins is they were designed as a compact car with a V8 engine bay. AMCs are definitely a niche car, but I like 'em. Okay, I like some of them. I'd take an AMX served up TA style, that's for sure.

Regarding car prices, almost everything prior to the mid '70s is climbing. Mavericks and Pintos are still "garbage" cars, but the going rates are going up.

careful........One guys Garbage is another ones treasure....

One of my last memories with my Grandfather was the day he brought home a maverick. He was dying of cancer at that time and he wanted somthing for my aunts to drive my Grandmother around in.

I loved that car. It had a Small block ford in it and it was a fun ride.
