Hello,
an inch and a half was plenty of lift. You will also need to grind one of the ribs off the back of the TAV support plate...not a big, don't worry! I just bought some 1.5" square solid aluminum stock, cut them to length, and drilled the holes. Make sure you use good bolts and serrated locking nuts on the bottom. My engine has not slid at all...but everyone will tell you it will! I will have to look and see if I have any pics
