No crankshaft exposed in the back.. %100 sealed off, output shaft in the front only.. Pretty rare variation of the Y engines.. These motors have a remote tank and a thin steel tube for a carb that vacuums gas up the line.. Weird stuff..

Okay I am planning on finding a mini bike to put my cast-iron block briggs 5hp motor into whether or not I am the only one, but I wanna know if anybody has already done this so I don't have to go into it blindly. The motor is a great choice, but it weighs alot, holy :censure:!

I have a briggs 5hp or 7hp cast iron block motor. I was wondering how well they would perform in a mini bike? or has anyone ever used them? :cursing::shrug:

Briggs and stratton 5hp I/C cast iron bore motor. It is a J stamped block, 3/4 shaft threaded and keywayed. I just sprayed carb clean in it and and ran it on the bench. If fired easy and ran smooth with no smoke. I did notice that fluid did leak between carb and tank when I did this. Tank is...

I know not the typical foundation for a power source d/t weight but I was wounding if anyone else has used an iron block motor on their mini. I have a bunch of Clinton 1200s, A1200s and B1290s in stock which make great 3.5-4hp motors. They are heavey but with the heavey cranks and flywheels...

Just picked up an old salvage cast iron engine off an old ride-on mower with plans to rebuild it, and starting to wonder if it would be too heavy for a mini bike frame. Has anyone used one of these?

I went out to look at one thing, found another. It looks like an old Briggs, but I don't know for sure. It has a 1/2" shaft, its pretty dinky, but is a heavy little sucker. It cost more to drive out and get it than it did to buy it. Anyone have an old 1/2" clutch they can part with?

I have two old cast iron 2hp briggs engines for sale. One will run but needs a gas tank. It has a recoil on it the other has the old rope wrap around. I have not messed with the second one. These are heavy little engines. Asking $30 each or $50 for the pair, plus shipping. Pics to come.

Selling my 8hp Cast Iron Kohler. It is missing the gas tank. Has a spindled 1" shaft. Rope wrap around starting. Great shape other than that. I have not tried to get it running. Asking $40 plus shipping. VERY HEAVY!!!

i need a 5 hp briggs motor w/ cast cylinder sleeve also with the newer intake flange, i will be running a tillotson carb with an ec manifold. i will post a pic of what type of motor i am talking about.

Is there a way to determine which engines have a cylinder sleeve vs. an aluminum bore without pulling the head? Is there a serial number range or indicating number/letter to look for? Thanks ~JM~

i am building a motor and need a block. where can i get one? and which engines if i was to buy a complete engine come like this from the factory.

I was wondering how to stop the flywheel from rusting. I am putting together a motor and want it to look halfway decent. Could i put a light coat of paint on it without interfering with the signal to the coil?
