They will last a long, long time provided the correct alignment and a well maintained chain. Its like anything else, If it's maintained properly you probably wont wear it out.
I totally agree they are tough and made by Horstman for the karting world .
I used the solid T-6 aluminum sprockets from Azusa that were 40 chain and I ran a double row 40 chain on my racing off road trike. It's all in the alignment and chain care.
