Another classic Briggs engine

Looks like something was mounted on the crank at one time also. Big divot from a set screw. Plus not very useful on a mini bike at only 1.6hp.

that is the wrong engine cover, that engine should have an embossed cover with the BS logo down on the left side next to the pull start.



plus the oil cap is wrong, it should be a metal cap

and the carb bolts are wrong, should be flat screw driver type screws

Exactly, my 1960 2.5hp has an embossed shroud. I believe the older ones were embossed differently but embossed none the less. This engine is wrong in a number of ways, the seller should be ashamed but I bet they feel like they hit paydirt. I'd be curious to see the feedback on it, I should have saved the listing to watch for the train wreck that has to be coming. I passed up a sweet original one a guy had the air cleaner lid and tank chromed on for $30 because it was a 2hp but I deeply regret it because it ran like a new one.:doah:
