Hello -

I have removed both of the outside retaining clips. Is there anything else in the way of removing the shaft (in either direction) and popping the 2 bearing assemblies from the inside to the outside? Looks like nothing has been touched on the bike since it was new and I have been "tapping" on the ends of the shaft but they will not move. Is the shaft just being stubborn or am I missing something? Thanks!!

Nothing else. Keep tapping and put some penetrating fluid on it.

Probably some corrosion in there.

Jackshaft or swingarm shaft?

Same either way...

If it's the swing arm, Kustom Kart Kid did a great write up in removing that when he restored the Spitler bike...

Its the jackshaft that is stubborn.

I was able to get the swingarm off with some solid tapping/rapping.

I'll keep at it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion on the 2 x 4 and on being careful of damaging the ends of the rod. I am restoring a bike I bought from Jake in Florida last year and have it all apart except for the jack shaft. The shaft does not rotate smoothly.....catches at one point.... so may need to replace the bearing assemblies. Any suggestions as to where best to purchase should I need to?
