I had that happen on one too... I heated, soaked, did everything I could think of until I did the unimaginable :doah:, I drilled a hole in each bar just above the curve on the handle bar then inserted a steel rod and beat the forks out.. it worked... I salvaged the caps and then welded the holes up and no one ever knew..

this build isn't worth that expense...it's a TH with a Bonanza front end, it will be a hodge podge of parts and not a restoration...just a nice clean rider...

If I can't locate a decent set of lower legs I might just turn these into solid forks...sleeve the two pieces (actually 4), weld them up, metal finish the joints and paint it up..
