Briggs and Stratton Blue Wazoom

#1
Good evening, everyone!

I picked up this Briggs and Stratton Blue Wazoom motor.

The previous owner was running a Chinese carb from Amazon. I'm curious what carburetor actually came on this motor?

I'm planning on putting this on my drag mini bike. I'm not entirely sure I want to run methanol yet, but if I find a carburetor that came with the motor can I run 91 octane vs methanol?

Also is there any specs someone may have as far as horsepower and such?

Thank you for any help I can get!

Are you planning to race it?
Methanol is corrosive, needs to be flushed out after the engine is run, needs to be jetted very rich to run. Oil should be changed after running the engine, as it will end up with fuel in it.

Yes, I do participate in mini bike drag races. It is not tech inspected like kart racing. So with that information I may have to get a gas carburetor, and I'll have to turn back the timing I believe.

Never played with it my self. Seen Cleetus McFarland and cars and cameras play with it . From what i see is you need to feed it lots of fuel . Purge it every time you use it , frequent oil changes, and hold on plus it makes your eyes burn
That does sound like a pain in the butt. I'll have to take a look at cars and cameras YouTube videos again I haven't watched them in a while.

They drain it and run it on gas after every trip to the strip, just to keep the alky from eating the carb and engine. You have a nice, and evidently rare engine. I would stick with the NON ethanol gasoline if it was mine.I might put a big Tillotson carb on it just to intimidate the gawkers.

I've decided not to run methanol that's a lot of work for a mini bike race lol.

Do you think I need to retard the timing?
I believe they advanced the flywheel for methanol. I could be wrong on that.

All of this is true. But as long as you flush it out and change the oil it will be fine. It makes great power and runs very cool in temperature. I bet it's 15hp difference in the right motor.
You don't have to change the oil every run, but change at the end of the race day.

I'm assuming if I run gas instead of methanol I'll loose that 15hp and it'll be closer to 5hp again?

I'm not entirely sure I need to run methanol for a grass drag. It sure would be fun and it smells good but I think it's a bit overkill
