There are all kinds of tubes connected to I- do- not- know - whats on these engines. :shrug:Specifically, there is small black plastic box with various tubes connected to it mounted at the lower rear of the engine- what does THAT do? 
Is any of this stuff needed? That is to say, will the engine still run properly if it is all removed? Will it run any better? Any special precautions to take when disconnecting this stuff, like capping or plugging tubes? It appears that if an aftermarket (K & N type) performance air filter is installed that at least some of this must be removed.
