That is a good choice for a flathead. Try and find one with a choke on the right side of the carb, looking down from the top. That will help you! All the big time key board racers will tell you you need more carb, but I think that is a good choice! Intake velocity is a good thing!

I just put a 19mm Mikuni on my 5hp flathead Briggs 2 weeks ago, it runs great and even came with a foam air filter. The choke plate lever is on the right side so it's easy to reach. I had to make a short intake runner to fit up but it was well worth the effort.

I ran a 22mm Mikuni copy carb on my virtually stock 5HP before I sold my bike last year. It gave a whole lot more torque than the standard Pulsa Jet and had a lot more "get go" but I often found the engine bogging down due to running too rich, no matter what the carb adjustment was. I would imagine that running a 19mm carb would yield much better results, I say go for it!
