Chain too tight?

is it possible to make the chain too tight? when i start it up it just wants to take off. should i loosen it up just a bit?

yes you can have it too tight. you want 1/2"-3/4" of play at the top of the chain.

throttle linkage? or fast idle?

Would also make sure the clutch bearing has been oiled. If it's making a funky noise and trying to take off, probably needs a little oil..

when the chain is looser it slaps against the chainguard when you throttle.

take off the chain guard. they look stupid anyways.

if you don't want to do that then you get to deal with the chain hitting unless you keep it too tight.
