Get the full money in cash in your hand ahead of time before any "Test Ride" and if possible have very little fuel in the tank.
Also always have a friend there with you for safety.
This is just one of many reasons why I do not use Marketplace for sales.

Yupp happens all the time. Buddy sold is kx125 and guy did the same thing just drove off on the test ride. He looked down all the bills had the same serials

Someone stole an 80cc out of my shed and a few days later a buddy’s wife said was setting at the kitchen table drinking coffee.. She saw a fourwheeler being pushed down the street at 5am..

Still blows my mind people let strangers take their vehicle in a test ride…hell 40 years ago my dad wouldn’t let it go without him in it….and he’d drive…i let guys watch me ride motorcycles or minis I sell….never give yours keys away….but i guess now a days you could slip a tracking device, an air tag or something similar..

In the past, when I’ve sold motorcycles the terms have been:
1. Cash, no bills larger than $20.
2. No test drive, but I put in writing that the purchaser has 15 minutes to return the bike in same condition for a full refund.

I guess as long as there was only one exit…there are some guys that lay awake for years….5/10 usually, that think if nothing else but ways to steal….every in and out….every possibility…..
