How old is your 4HP or 5HP Engine?

After recently reigniting my passion for these small engines and having collected them over the past fifteen years, I have come to think of questions that seemingly have no answer.

One of these questions that I cannot seem to find an answer to is, when did production begin for model 100000 and 130000 flathead, lightweight engines?

The engines in question are the traditional 4HP and 5HP flathead Briggs and Stratton engines we all know and love.

Part of the reason I am curious to look further into this, stems from an engine in my collection.

I have a model 100202 4HP Briggs, produced in 1962. This engine is the earliest I have ever seen for the "big block" Briggs range, and is even labeled with the "new" easy spin start label. It's seen a hard life, but lives on in my minibike.

The limited information out there leads me to believe that the model 100000 came first, with the 130000 following soon thereafter.

Pictured is the early model engine that I have in my possession.

What is the earliest engine of this type that you've seen? Did they begin producing them in the late 1950s alongside the model 60000 and 80000 (2 & 3HP) engines?

Briggs 5h.p. models130202, and 130212 were popular in the early to mid 80's and the 130202's were normally always wore out by the time i got them so im thinking they could of even started mid to late 70's however i could be mistaken. Im sure somebody who knows for sure will be along shortly.
