One of the attached photos shows the gizmo on the cam shaft that [I believe] slightly opens the exhaust valve when the engine is being started with the pull rope. When the RPM is high enough it swings out of the way of the lifter. Should it be removed?

The Intec now has an Animal crank. The ignition timeing is 20 degrees before top dead center. I checked it with a timeing light. [See photo]. Also the compresson ratio has be played with, it is now about 10.5 to 1.

MDB. What is your opinion? Should I leave it on or take it off? Or is there no chance of starting it at all with that spark lead and compresson ratio? You guy give me some input.

Do not remove it. That's the easy start lever that allows you start the motor easier. Without it, look out!

Thanks guys for the info. I'll for sure leave it on the cam shaft. I suppose it would make some sence to buy a book from B&S on the engine but it is a lot more fun to wing it. Real men don't read instructions!
