Mercury Clutch

I just bought a Bird Chopper, picture of its rebuilding will be in a future post. I just started today on looking at what I am going to need. I took off the clutch which I thought looked weird. It is a Mercury with four carbon shoes. Is this what the clutch is suspose to look like? The minibike has not seen light in several years, so I have to believe it is all there.

Merc clutch

Hi All:

Yup Sam that is what it looks like. I just got my JC Penny/Bird running and would'nt you know it the clutch just goes to pieces. I bought a new clutch and file the merc in the garbage. Be careful on startups.

that clutch looks pretty bad. you'd probably be better off spending $25 on a new one and just tossing that one in the garbage.
